Deer Hunting Day 15 - Fri NOV 9

The girls (Sandy, Kathy, and Shelby) all went up to Michigan City today to go Christmas shopping.  The boys are ruling the house (until they come home).

Alex showed up after work, about 3 or so.  He and Nick loaded up and headed out to the stands on Neal.  I stayed home to clean house and cook dinner (don't revoke my Man Card just yet, read on).

The boys, they saw nothing in the woods.  Nick did manage to fall / jump out of the stand.  As he was descending, he slipped and caught hold of the foot plate with one hand.  The metal grate started to cut into his hand, so he let go and dropped about 8 feet, landing on his feet.  The only injury to report is a rip in his pinky finger.  He had previously lowered his bow down with the rope, so no equipment damage.

Yep, seems to be some skin missing there boy.  Looks kinda raw.

I told the boys I would have the meal ready at 6:15.  They pulled in at 6:13, washed and sat down.  I had prepared grilled lobster tails, barbecue shrimp, and cedar planked Alaskan Sockeye salmon.  That's it.  An all meat meal cooked on the grill.  And man was it awesome grub.  We washed it down with some Sam Adams.  It was very difficult to pick a "favorite" since they were all so wonderful.

I had made my own BBQ sauce by taking 2/3rds Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville sauce, 1/3rd Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey, two teaspoons of brown sugar, a splash of Teriyaki, and a squeeze of lime juice.  Bam! How do you like me now?  I brushed this on both sides of the giant shrimp as they grilled.  Oh yeah!

Had there been women present, I'm sure we would have had some sort of vegetable and carbs (noodles or rolls).  Hell, we couldn't get through all the protein, so who needs that?  Besides, we had hops and barley!

As we played Call of Duty for the remainder of the night we commented that we had won.  Hunting, grilling, beer and video games.  Beats the living crap out of Christmas shopping.  To wit, the girls did not get back home until at 11:30 pm.  Yeah, I would have been done by Noon!  Oh well, everybody's happy!
