Dove Opener 2026
It's been unseasonably warm here in central Indiana. Doves opened up on Tuesday, SEP 1st, but we waited until Saturday to hunt the farm. Good call too as it was 73F as we started our hunt. Turns out only 5 of us were committed enough to get out by first light and set up our decoys. We hunted until 11 and then threw last year's bounty on the grill for lunch. We took the afternoon off and then after a 0.10" rain, some went back out that evening. Overall, a gorgeous day to be afield! The morning crew with our haul! The "funny" photo with our Boom Town swag. The "legit" photo suitable for sharing. Mojo decoys on pond with rainbow in the background. What a day to be alive. God is indeed good! Snuck up on a squirrel and added him to the pot. Tango with the retrieve! Father and son hunting doves. The season's First Blood! Doves on the line over the sunflower field. Even the girls got in a little shooting. Mother and daughter awaiting the arrival ...
